Actually I do hope that BMW will use the bumper mounted reflectors like they did on the E92 and E70 because that would mean that they will leave the headlights all clear. The small bumper mounted amber reflectors don't bother me but the amber reflectors on the side of the headlights do. As it is with the current US E60's if one wants to get rid of the amber reflectors they would have to purchase the entire European headlights for about $2000 or find a used set on eBay.de. However, if BMW leaves the headlights all clear and use the bumper mounted reflectors then it would be MUCH easier and cheaper to get rid of the reflectors by either painting them body color or replacing them with clear or smoked reflectors as they become available.

An interesting facelift with several changes in the cabin and engines and the overriding consideration is the nature of the reflectors?

Any news about the 523i?
I saw that it will be upgraded to 190 hp -- also in the Dutch forum, the table shown there indicated that the 523i upgrade would be in effect in w5 2007 (it says v5 in the table, could they mean month 5)??! This would mean that they would put the upgraded engine into the old chassie?
Anyone knows anything about this?

NB I might be totally wrong so...

The shift knob is the one thing I don't like in the new model. The old one looks more in place with the conventional climate control knob.

Now if they change the climate control to a LCD display then it's a different story.

I am relieved that they didn't change the climate control controls too much. I actually really like those analogue dials and think they are quite effective that way. It makes the design looks so clean and it would be ruined with a small LCD screen under the iDrive just to show the current temp setting (which you can read off the knobs very easily)

Each to his own, I suppose.

I like the current set up too, but as I said the new shift knob looks like something from star trek and doesn't goes with those analogue dials on the climate control. LED display would go better with that knob.

I see what you mean (although it doesn't bother me as much).
Do you think the alleged 'sports automatic transmission' shifter looks nicer with the new dash and controls?
