Truely true. And, we both are getting them one way or the other with regularity.
I knew I should have gotten the Automatic! Son of a Be-hive!
Imagine a 550 step...

I will be happy to come aboard after I pick up my 550 step on 3-31. I will need some pointers on equipment, testing methods, locations.

Well, they have something to show us. I wish they would come aboard.

Yes, a step. I agonized over that for a long time and by the time I changed my mind to go for SMG or manual, it was too late and the car was in production. I had a 545 step last year and figured it's still an immensely fun car so went along with the step. I can do some testing in Germany but would not know how to take the equipment along (I do not subscribe much to the break-in period! ).

Super. We need some 550i's and some of all 5ers for that matter. A good place to start is at the start of this thread. The start contains a great deal of info about meters, settings, etc. Also, this thread contains a great deal of general information about performance-related factors. Is your car going to be a Step? But, whatever. And, you will have some break-in time. On test sites, the considerations are safety, flatness, and levelness. We look forward to you joining in.

I don't have a clue. Darn.
Thanks for providing the data. They must be for a new run because I have not yet reflected them in on the straight-line thread. It looks like a really great unadjusted pass. What was its date? I will be glad to see what happens when things warm up for you. I think that your assessment is correct. Today on my second run, which now is my second best, I intentionally brake torqued to the point where I knew that I would lose traction. I think I lost the perfect amount of traction, but my no-loss first run still was better. But, on the other hand, my first run always is the best even though I dirve around at the speed limit for a while between runs.
On second thought, are you saying the 1/4 data above are from 5/05 and the formula and that you think there would be no density altitude adustment? I need raw data where the 1/4 data were meter measured and a density altitude adjustment was needed to effectively assess whether my regressions will work somewhat OK for your car. Your data from 2/25/06 would work. Also are the data you gave above pre 20.01.00. I am trying to keep us on the post 20.01.00 page and am trying to stay away from the use of the formula in producing data that we would claim to be factual. I hope I am making sense to you. And, is this approach OK with you? Right now your adjusted data won't look so good, but, as it warms up, things should straighten out. And, we could just wait until you start gettin warmer weather data.

Wow Zman It's hard to get anything by you.The data is from my run on 2-20-06.I fudged the 0-100,1/4 speed and time with grogans formula because I didn't complete the full 1/4.I will try some full 1/4 runs in march to see how the warming weather affects my times. The run was after 20.01.
"I reviewed some of my old data from may of 05.I didn't log the weather conditions at the time but temps were above 55 F and dew points that time of the year are close to actual temps, usually about 5 less than actual temps. I had 5.00 & 5.03 0-60 times along with 13.45 & 13.47 1/4 times(grogans formula).I doubt there would be a negative altitude equivilent at that time.:
Right those runs would be super if there are no negative weather effects. I have been having some negative weather effects, but they always are more than offset by my 1,550' altitude. Also, do you have the weather data for the 2/20/06 pass? Thanks. And, what is your new altitude again?

Got it. And, now I know completely what you meant when you said:

I'm interested in the name of the street you're doing your testing on...you know, so I can calculate some adjusted times for myself!
I've never in my life seen a thread where somebody can post such a volume of minutia, and hold a conversation with himself.

Aside from the fact that you are wasting bandwidth with this stuff, I assume you realize this high speed street driving is illegal and irresponsible. You are endangering others (since you clearly have no regard for your own safety).

I somehow agree!
