I am pretty annoyed at a Klonk like noise from the front left side of the car. Only happens at slow speed on bumpy roads (like a parking lot) I did not take it to the dealer yet but I am concerned that I would get the standard response that it is normal. I used to have a similar noise with my Maxima and it turned out that it was the soft rubbery compound where the shock absorber sits. Other reason I suspect for my current scenario is the wheel bearing mechanism. Any ways to diagnose ahead of walking into the dealership would be appreciated. Btw, this is a 2006 530 xi with 72K kms (43k miles) bought certified in Nov 08

Have had the same noise for a long time also at left front. Started at about 40,000 km and no solution yet. Dealer is no help. Check the post by "dbm" on March 6, 2009.

Everything is OK at speed, or on moderately rough roads, steering & balance perfect , no vibration anywhere on car.
Drives perfect. Runs perfect - No problem on Speed bumps or undulating road either. THEN....
....Turn right or left at slow speed into parking bay / driveway eg over abrupt low kerb or rut in the road - Klonk Noise is there.
Sounds like something major is very loose but can't find it.
Car went in to dealer last week - Of course they couldn't find anything....HELP>>> Completely lost confidence in dealers - TOO MANY Bad experiences.
Rattle on A pillar fixed - BY ME - Dealer hopeless

Got the car back today. They said that the left front ball joint was loose and needed replacement. Parts have been ordered and I need to take car back in a few days. Well at least it is still under warranty. I have 5 months and/or 7k kms to go, any advice at what I shoud pay particularly attention to to get it fixed before warranty expires?
