Hi all,

I'm in the process of looking for my next car and I'm very interested in the 530d. I currently have a 2004 530 and love it, but I'd like to upgrade to get Nav and a few other features. I saw a clip on TV the other night about the BMW factory in Germany turning out diesel engines for "all 50 states".

I was hoping someone knew the time frame for these hitting the shares, or if they can be ordered?

Thanks in advance!

Dave

All we know for now is that BMW is bringing to the U.S. their twin turbo 3.0L inline-six diesel engine (265 hp & 425 lbs-ft of torque ) only to the X5 and 3 series - arriving sometime in late 2008.

As for the 5 series, who knows? It's possible they could introduce it here for the final two model years of the E60 (2009 & 2010). Or they may wait until the next generation F10.

the problem is bush would like you to use more gasoline instead. otherwise, gasoline is not a popular energy for any other machines. he needs to make sure to suck up as much money as possible before his presidency is over. the fuel pump is going $4.00 /gal now.

I am hoping my next BMW is hydrogen 5.

BOOM!! LOL. Just quoting Billy Madison and giving him some crap, I used the guy. I'm no fan of Bush, well I am , just not George... but to think Dubya controls BMW import policy and gas pricing...

I love that the d is finally coming to America. It's about time!!

Diesel is approx 4% more expensive here in the UK than gasolene, so Mr Bush would be missing an opportunity not to promote diesels.

Approx 50% of all new cars in the UK are now diesel.

They are not the smokey polluting truck like things of old. You will be in for a real surprise when you get modern diesels in mainstream USA cars

Last year Bimmer Magazine said that the 535d is the best car BMW has ever produced. If it was sold here, I'd buy one.
