I have an 08 528i no nav and I purchased a 2006 parts car which has navigation. Ive researched on this forum and realize that to have that nav installed in my car takes a good amount of work and also involves having Bmw program it into my car. This is something I really dont feel like doing. So my question is..... Can an e60 with Nav play regular dvds so they can be watched on the Idrive screen or is that only for the nav? If so, can i just install that into my car to watch dvds in mine and just forget about the nav? If thats possible do I still have to take it to BMW to have that programmed?

My Ride: E61 545i Sport Touring
My DVD only plays the navigation DVD. I have tried dvd video and dvd mp3.
I believe that later DVD players will play mp3 instead of NAV.
Good luck if you decide to transfer bits and software upgrade.

My Ride: 525D touring black navi pro hifi pro heated seats sport seats active steering .....
there is a way to fix it de dealer dont do this but there are some aftermarket shops that sell a retrofit for this.
