my wife and I today agreed to buy a 2004 535d M Sport (we are in the Uk). Hopefully we'll be collecting it next Saturday.

It has a pretty high spec, including Lighting Package. On new models this is xenons with wash and those nifty adaptive headlights. Can anyone confirm the adaptive lights were included with this option on 2004 cars?

Also it has professional nav which I noticed during the test drive had the 3d like perspective view. Is this an indication it may have the latest DVD/software? I didnt try entering a route to see if it had postcode search.

Thanks for any help!

Tim

the light package that includes xenons and adaptive lights and the washers is called the visibility pack. There will be a setting on the light switch where you turn it anti-clockwise from the 12:00 position (straight up) if they're fitted.

Eject the nav DVD and you'll see what version it is.

Not sure about i phone compatabilty............but the "perspective" view on you PRO Sat Nav means the car has had upgraded software, probable late 2005 or early 2006.
My old 535d didn't have this until an upgrade was performed at it's first service. Addition of "softkeys" to LHS of nav page also useful......

I am new to this forum thing but hope you find it helpful .......I have to say there a some serious BMW addicts with vast amounts of knowledge on these cars.......

.....

Thanks for the info. You're not wrong about the usefulness of forums such as this. A couple of years ago I ran an E30 M3 and the amount of technical knowledge available that helped me keep that running in tip-top shape was huge!

Anyway here's our new car:

Welcome nice spec.... and enjoy it when it arrives

The iphone works a treat......the receptions obviously better with the cradle though.

Nice car - you'll love it.

I think it's good that you've bought an AUC. I've had a few things done under warranty on mine bought 4 months ago (latest SW prog and MP3 playback enabled and new steering column) and more to go (possibly more steering column bits and/or the c0upler plus some other front suspension bits yet tbd).
