Hey everyone. Just picked up an 07 550i and I have to say I love this car. I've noticed, however, when I'm slowing down for a corner, or coming to a stop - at low speed - right around 20 mph, there is a pretty noticeable rumble. Any idea what this might be - is it normal or should I have it checked out? Thanks!

And here are a couple of pics:

Sounds like a transmission slam. Do a search on the forum for this, there is plenty of discussion on it. Good luck.

Mostly just an audible rumble from the front end - sounds like the engine - it doesn't stop when I release the brakes - if I just coast at 15 to 20 mph I get the rumble. A little vibration but it's not obnoxious by any means. Goes away after I get up to 25 or so or when I come to a stop. Doesnt do it when idling either. But it has 32K miles on it. Tires and brakes in good condition.

Thanks NYC - I looked up transmission slam and it's not really a loud bang, but a consistent grumble. It doesnt jerk or anything - I slow down for a sharp turn - i hear the rumble, step on the gas, rumble continues until I get above 25 - there's no lag in response, no jerk, no loud bang, just a rumble.

Drive in "Drive Sport" or "DS" mode-- not regular "Drive". That should keep your RPMs above the grumble point and thus eliminate it. (And don't go 25 mph or less. )

That's just your car going down to first. It's not a fuking Ferrari. It's normal.

It may be your wheel bearings or wheel hub.
