I once launched a hot cup of coffee in a styrofoam cup off my trunk lid clear past the front bumper!

I can completely see how that could happen. I just burst out laughing thinking of seeing that in action.

I always have to watch out to make sure no one is standing by the trunk when I push the button--I'm afraid they'll get whacked in the chin!

Oh, and another thing I'd like added is interior light/iDrive brightness/dimness added to key memory, rather than the manually scrolling knob that is there now. My husband likes it completely dark, and I like it as bright as possible.
Although it doesn't matter much any more, since my husband refuses to drive our piece of crap now.

Oh yeah, and somewhere to close the trunk without getting your hands dirty!? How about a wrist strap or something?? And if the trunk would close easily, it wouldn't be as big of a deal, but since you need ridiculous brute force to close the trunk, give us a hand, bmw!!!

Not sure how bad your trunk lid is but I use the plate to close mine ans the Gym will fix up your brute force problem

Are you aware that there is a technique for closing the trunk without touching any painted or dirty surface? There are two "grab handles" inside the lid (behind the license plate section).

Reach up with one hand and grab one of them. A swift pull straight down (your arm should swing back to move out of the way) and the trunk will close solidly. Many cars have this but many people never notice it. The E39 had one of these handles, the E60 has two of them.

I've been doing it this way for so long that I now won't let anyone else close my trunk for fear of scratches, fingerprints, etc.

I am aware of this (recently, though), but it is too awkward with full hands, and when I use it with empty hands, it doesn't give enough force to actually shut the trunk... it goes down most of the way, but then springs back up again.

? Want to save messages to computer like PDA by voice.? If not show personal calender with appointments, at least show monthly calender on screen. Keep records in computer with ability to transfer to thumbdrive or pda.

This is another feature that was in the promotional materials like blue tooth but never made its way into the car. You were supposed to have the ability to take notes via voice.

Oh, I remember now. My previous Lexus has a push button at the bottom of the rear door/lid to close it. It'd be nice to implement it on our car. Need to get it from junkyard and install on our trunk

There is a "L" shaped plate that I saw somewhere that mounts underneath the license plate that adds a lip to be used to close the trunk. Maybe someone else has seen it.

Just three things!

(i) A dealer that listens to me .
(ii) Standard air con that does what the brochure promised.
(iii) A GPS and laser speedtrap detector that is integrated with the i DRIVE SCREEN:

Now THAT is an aggressive trunk lid!
