I don't know about 15.2 but I have 15.x and similar options to you it seems. I have seen no issues related to the software (or anything else) since it was upgraded. Except maybe the apparent fuel consumption was high in the trip computer. They are installing a new AM antenna today (not in stock when I had s/w update) and said they would adjust the calibration as well.

no appearent issues so far.

CD text available now
less warning "DINGS" for no appaerent reasons
boot time seems to have increased a little, however IN MENU response time is UP (better) from V.13.2
have NOT noticed any higher sensitivity on the FTM
iDrive has NOT crashed, froze, or failed to boot.

CD text is available with the new SW upgrade? Is it for the in-dash player AND the changer?

I have 15.0, at least that's what the work order says! Anyway, the dings are down but not gone. Oddly my iDrive boot time dropped dramatically, almost instant now. Never had an issue w/ FTM so no comparison. And my iDrive never froze or crashed w/ my earlier version, but I don't have Navigation which seems to bring its own set of gremlins! Oh, and I've never seen CD text, but my CD's are old.

How do you get the software update?

Is it automatically downloaded by the car at a certain point or is it something you have to bring into the dealer to get?

Welcome aboard, elguevon !

To answer your question: you have to bring the car to the dealer.

As usual, Iceman is right! Mine was updated as part of the Emissions recall... I really had no problems before hand, but you'll either need some problem to be fixed or be part of a recall. You can't just request updated software.
