So I started my search for a replacement car when this morning I got the bright idea of "gee why don't I go test drive a prius plug-in hybrid,...it'll save you a sh!t-ton of gas and you won't need to fill up because you'll plug it in every night."
I got into the into the prius and to my surprise was a mini little baby heads-up display! Surprised I continued the test drive (giving the benefit of the doubt).
**My review**
A HORRID NIGHTMARE!~!!!!!!
The car accelerates like doodie-cakes, the bootleg leather is as Wonder is to Organic 12 grain bread and it all costs a //laughable
// $40,635.00 (no that's not the mileage).
I know you'll get like awesome gas mileage but I'll stick to going to the gas station once every 8-10 days thank you very much. And it could take its little baby fun sized heads-up display too.
I'm sorry if I am comparing two things that shouldn't be compared like apples to oranges but it really was a trip.
Looks like I learned my lesson, back to the drawing boards (aka CL, autotrader, cars.com, ebay, and here) to find my new car!

Aren't you glad you got that out of your system ;-) That said, my daughter (drives in/out of Washington DC just bought a new 2013 Prius. I think they refer to it as a III - level 3. With nav, BT, sat radio, their equiv of CA and other technology stuff (like instant streaming via BT) it was less than $26K!
It suits her driving needs well and if she were silly (or wealthy) enough to put a 550 through her commute it'd cost more in gasoline than her car payments! And, based on all the reports about this particular car, its reliability is something BMW should aspire to.
That said, it's (probably) not the vehicle for some/most of us who lurk in this forum. But, Toyota seems to sell a boat-load of them!

I have to say that my 07 Rav 4, with 70,000 miles has had no issues. My 08 535XIT with 49,000 miles has had tons of problems that the dealer has fitted. The BMW drives much better but given all the maintenance issues and the high cost it will probably be my last BMW.
