[Kscarrol,? I am scheduled for the V15 upgrade, oil change and cup holder fix on Dec 22/23.? Wait until I post my report and then you can make your decision.

Thx Hormazd, luckily I have already booked an appointment for a rattle in the back seat, another broken headlight bracket and the Sirius install the first week in January, so I look forward to hearing about your upgrade. Guess you're the guinea pig!

JDN, I don't know the answer to your question. Does he mean your computer in particular or that all the recalled cars need to have their computers "fixed" first? If it is the latter, I may pass after reading about your experiences so far...

My computer is currently inoperable and my car is in for the second extended storage with the dealer while they wrestle with the solution to the problem. Meanwhile, they are not fixing any of the other maladies because the computer is not working. Some of the problems are not computer related. I don't know about the oxygen sensor and was wondering if the service advisor is right about that.

JDN, the recall deals with reprogramming the DME so that the oxygen sensor functions properly. There doesn't seem to be any hardware changes.

It's possible that it would be a waste of time to reprogram your DME if they are going to be either replacing it or doing other software updates to it.

I'm not sure if you can equate DME software to CIP software. When we speak of versions here like 12.2, etc. we're talking about CIP. Could it be that the DME software is entirely seperate?

Thanks, Rudy. According to the dealer, my computer is in the tank and they have appealed to higher levels for a solution. So, the service advisor is probably right.

I guess this explains why all the MY2005 V8 engine cars were initially held up at the VPC for EPA inspection. The EPA wanted to be sure BMW fixed the problem. I hope my car has the EuroNCAP mods but I dont know how to tell without getting into a wreck.
JDN I 'm sorry about your car. Maybe they ought to give a 645Ci as a loaner for your trouble.

I'm with you on that one. I'd probably skip the state.

I just had this done, for some reason my dealer Vista Motors had trouble with the down load, they had my car 4 days. I was told that BMW NA got involved and the problem was solved. I cannot tell you that I detect any differance in the way the car drives. They did manage to loose my preset radio stations and some others

You can always kiss your presets and your address book goodbye on software updates. BMW NA go involved with mine. Putting in a new CCC unit which arrived today. I have some other issues like AM static, returning to the locked car with the radio playing and the computer accept screen booted while keys are in my pocket, noisy bearing type noise around the fan belt, etc. But at least I can see day light now.
