Hi,Just joined the forum and must admit very impressed with the technical information, i have just bought privately a 04 e60 530D really nice spec, but have allready come across a few problems, first the navigation screen would not come on after the car had been stould a few days, also the battery warning light comes on, when i was buying the car i noticed when looking under the bonnet that the battery jump lead cover was left open! when i asked the owner about this he made the excuse his wife had left the heated seats on? which flattened the battery, so it looks like a new tomorrow, would a low battery cause these faults? also a gearbox warning symbol came up on the dash too, the other thing ive noticed is when the car is first started there is a very strong smell of exhaust fumes in the cabin? any ideas as to what would cause this many thanks Dave

Typical weak battery!
You will find if you let the car idle for a bit then shut off and restart the warnings will go.

My battery got drained just after I bought it (by the stupid tinter). The dash lit up like a christmas tree and the dealer had to put out something like 14 fault codes...lol (luckily did under warranty).
