My Ride: 2010 535i, Sports Package, Nav, Prem Sound
Default

Earlier this month I traded my trusty E60 530i for a 2010 CPO 535i (27k miles, Build Date 3/2009). By the way the recall campaign had already been performed as per the sticker I found on the underside of the hood.

Shortly after I noticed that the idle was rough in the morning (no engine light or IDrive messages) and the windows squeaked when going over bumps (very annoying). The rough idle could be felt as vibration through the steering wheel and the RPM would oscillate from about 600-900rpm. So I researched every N54 rough idle topic and forum post on the internet and decided to take it back to the dealership I bought it from (Dealer A).

Dealer A did a "N54 Reprogram" which was supposedly an updated software version to fix the issue. The SA said they confirmed the rough idle and had to call BMW to figure out what to do (Reprogram).
I get the car back and it did seem smoother but after a few days it was rough again, especially when first putting the car in gear and driving off at a very low speed.

Obviously at this point I am a bit disappointed and figured I would take the car to Dealer B who I had worked with before (with my previous car) with positive results.
Yesterday I found out the results: All 6 fuel injectors replaced with newer parts and all window seals replaced (for squeaky noise issue). The car is very smooth at idle now so far and I have to say I am very satisfied with Dealer B's no non-sense service. The SA at Dealer B mentioned that the fact that Dealer A only did a reprogram was "Idiotic" (to use his exact word).

Anyways, here's the exact writeup from Dealer B:

28277 All Six Injectors misfiring
Performed A Short Test on vehicle and pulled FC 2AAF
Performed Test Module for concern, said check fuel pressure, check power ground and wire for an open, ALL OK
Performed a High Pressure Pump Test and Passed OK
While Started Vehicle noticed a Rough Idle as per Test Module, Removed and Replaced all 6 Injectors
Checked Operation of Vehicle, Working As Design, Completed

6 13-53-7-585-261 INJECTOR : 135030
6 13-53-7-564-751 DECOUPLING ELEMENT : 13509953

************************************************** ****************

28277 All 4 Door Seals making creeking noise while driving over bumps. Performed test drive on vehicle, Very Noisy while driving over bumps.
Inspected Vehicle and Installed door Teflon tape, no difference, noise still present
Removed All 4 Door Seal and Replaced with New ones and test drove vehicle, creeking noise gone Completed

1 51-21-7-057-507 Seal, Door Seam Roof Front
1 51-21-7-057-508 Seal, Door Seam Roof Front

1 51-21-7-057-509 Gasket, Door Joint, Roof
1 51-21-7-057-510 Gasket, Door Joint, Roof

So remember guys, the particular dealership you go to for service can make all the difference.
