I saw the new iDrive in the 2009 7-series, the full screen is very nice and the navigation of the system is quick. I didn't play much with it but it is obvious that is quick. Now that BMW is offering the full map screen, do you think we will get a firmware update on our cars to get the full screen? It would be nice to use the full 8" for the map.

Not sure if the fact that the new idrive is on a hard drive and not a DVD like the old idrive will affect the issuance of firmware updates.

My wife's 09 e90 has the new idrive and it is pure amazing. it's got an 11 GB HDD and the interface is the coolest thing in the world!

when i connect my ipod it reads all the folders and all the tracks through the USB port, not like the limited reading i get of my ipod in my e60 using the OEM connection.

The graphics works on the new idrive is just breathtaking, and everything is accessible in a much easier fashion than the old generation we have in our e60s. the buttons around the knob are not of much use.

the car has voice command and u can do everything using it, interacting with the idrive.

I guess the F10 will have these and i'm already jealous of the e90!

I have ordered a new 2010 535xiT E61 (See: http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=70009).

New features of the 2010 include the new CCC/iDrive ? available in the US with 2010 cars (production starts in March).

I wholeheartedly concur with Egypt_525i. I fooled around with the iDrive in a new Navi equipped 3 Series at the dealers. It is sooo much faster!

Also, within five minutes I felt comfortable with the command structure, plotted a route to a NYC address, changed the FM to an HD station and looked for the non-existent iPod interface (no iPod was attached.) I am sure there will be some confusion after I pick up my car, but from that quick examination I got the impression BMW got this interface right. While I am pleased that HD radio is now standard with the new CCC (at least on US cars), I also believe the iPod interface should be standard here as well. My salesman says that some 90% of buyers specify the 6FL option.

Does the current screen have the 8" of coverage. I mean, yes, I know the area is at least 8", but I am not sure that the current screen is that size. Anyway, they always say that size doesn't matter.....

Dang I was under the impression the 2009 E60 had the new iDrive. Guess I fell behind the E60 news. So March 2009 for MY10 eh?
