The beauty of the 8 cylinder is the power when you want it. If I keep my foot off the gas I can get ~25 mpg highway with cruise control on. Hey - my car is for sale! See the classifieds.

Welcome!! Good luck on your new 5 series...might I venture that you take a look at the 535i as it gives you the power of the V8, economy/smoothness/lighter weight of the I6....good luck with whatever you choose and post pics as soon as you get it! BMW has some pretty good year end deals going on new BMW's right now!

Do you have a particular car in mind...sounds like you might?

Welcome Vroom. I assume you have also seen the badge/no-badge arguments put forth here. In my book, the same applies to M add-ons. If they are draped over a 528, it's um, money ill-spent in my book. Spend the bucks on a model--not plastic--upgrade; it's worth it. Those of us who know, know and we'll leave you in the rearview mirror.

Cheers,
Ray
Ditto for me ," you is what you is" ! no fake badging .

Cheers

Not really to specific. Just looking for a jet black or silver metallic with sports package and probably the logic7 system. Most likely will buy used b/c I've been known to jump in and out of cars every year (I know stupid). Wasted a lot of money doing this but I just get bored of cars quick but I do need a sedan right now and the 5 series is the only car that appeals to me at the moment plus you guys are making me like it more

Welcome. Go with the biggest motor you can afford, sport package and navigation. Navigation is a must, once you get hooked you'll wonder how you lived with one. Garmin, Tom Tom all work well and cost less but the factory/BMW Nav seamlessly with Bluetooth cellphone. Good luck. BTW, I bought my 04 new, did a few engine mods and I'm still in love.

Hey, don't blame us cause we're stupid, too. Welcome. HotLap is right in my book. Get a 535i, the latest iteration of the I6. Then when the tt v8 comes along, that will be the latest iteration of the v8. I think a 535i will give you lower payment, better gas mileage, and more room than your Porsche. The only trade off is performance.

To clarify the "avoid the 2004 model," you really want to stay away from early production models. Some of the 2003 builds have very different electronic capabilities (no bluetooth) and cannot easily by upgraded. Early production models also tended to have more electronic issues.

Unfortunately, I don't know the magic cutoff date. Perhaps a search or two will help before you buy.

Welcome to the forum. Get an 05 or later cpo with as many oem toys as possible.
I 've had no issues electronically. You'll enjoy the added space. As far as aftermarket or factory mods; you've just entered Mod info/contact Heaven!!!.....enjoy.

Welcome to the best e60 forum in the world and have fun too.
For the car problems I think it is better to get a 05 car and try and find a car with the mods on so you dont have to find it yourself.
good luck and have fun.
