Default New fog sensor install

Hello gents,

got a new fog sensor as the old one gave a fault in ista and the auto climate control sometimes lived its own life suddenly blowing quit hard now and then. Old one is removed and the surface is clean black.
Can I just stick it with double sided tape?...and what the open electronic pad doing?...Is that a surface temp sensor or something?

thx in advance

willem

Hmmm, I've had the same error and have wanted to replace mine as well. I know that TIS says it is one-time use only and there is a tool that comes with it to align it. I believe there are some temp and moisture sensors there that go on the glass and I kind of doubt that double-sided tape would be okay. That said, I'm sure it doesn't need to be optically transparent the way the rain sensor needs to be. Here's all I could find in TIS in case you haven't seen it yet. Keep us posted!

I found this on ISTA as wellbut the positionining tool is load of bullshit I'm sure. As long as you place it in more or less the same position you're good to go. As for the exposed electronics part. I've assumed that must touch the surface. I used a drop of Shoo Goo on the print and pressed it to the surface. Need to check the auto climate behaviour now but the things...the last few days without the sensor the system ran fine. Possibly because it didn't get disturbing signals from the sensor.

You should be able to attach the old one back with clear silicone ( of course if the old sensor is still working )
Saw this on youtube -
