Hi,

My E60 LCI (10/2007) is due a service in 1000 miles, and as I am have a variety of audio issues with my car, I asked my dealer if they could finally resolve those issues too whilst it was in. My car had its software updated about 4 months ago so is pretty up to date.

My dealer has told me to wait until the end of September to book my car in as he has been made aware of a new software update due at that time.

He has no further info at the moment, but I just wanted to ask the forum if anyone else is aware of this update or indeed whether they have any further info about the details of the update. I know some of you work within BMW.

I get on quite well with the dealer, and they do not charge me to update my software, and always update to the latest versions if my car is in for any work, but I have had continual problems with audio systems on this car which they have been unable to fix, and they think this new update might.

Any info welcome please.

Cheers

Melv

Cool

when it goes in and you get her back, do us all a big favour and ask for the "measures plan", make sure they give you the list which shows the modules updates, have you had an ISTA/p update before?
as the whole car will be done and i will be interested to see if there's any changes since i had mine done.

Ok, no problem. Will ask for the report. I'm sure it was a ISTA/P update last time as when I asked at what Progman level it was at he said that it was done differently now and mentioned something about ISTA.

Will keep everyone posted, but have to conceed that you are probably right about future updates not being developed too hard and are probably nothing other than bug fixes.

As long as they fix my audio nuances that that will be just fine !!

Slight OT, but not much .... I was in my local BMW dealer on Friday and I saw a car having it's software updated. There was a computer on wheels with cables here there and everywhere. It was sat there with the two front doors open a few inches, the trunk/boot open, the bonnet/hood open and a sign on the top of the car that nobody should open or close anything on this car while it's being updated. Hands off !! It seems like during the update process it's especially sensitive to anything at all being done to it. Quite strange I thought.

when it was progman, it was very unstable and laptops use to crash when ever they felt like it, i would imagine ISTA/p is much better but they don`t want to take any chances.

Had my car totally updated a few weeks back, following two punctures and no warning. A list of other oddities built up over time, I just e-mailed them a list before it went in.

The dealer said it took 7.5 hours to do it all, he had never had one take that long. At least everything on the list seems to have been fixed, but a few others have come up since. Mostly audio related I have to say.

Perhaps I'll give it another go later in the year/early next year...

Service is still having issues with ISTA/P. Too many changes and differences and not enough training. But hopefully it will stabilize. As so often happens the actual users were not deeply involved in setting "requirements" so got another system designed by engineers for operations personnel.

Let me know how it goes and if they actually are releasing an update. Probably get mine done if it does come out.
