The bad news is I had 3 out of 4 new seals fitted a week ago. No difference, still have squeaks driving me nuts. I complained to dealer, he raised a service issue with BMW UK. BMW says its probably some silicone lubricant on the seal - it needs to be removed. On Friday mine is going back to have final seal fitted and seals cleaned of any lubricant.

I am so fed up with this I am being about as big a pain in the ass as I can until they fix the bugger. This is 3rd time I have specifically arranged a dealer visit for this issue.

I must say however after nearly doing 20,000 miles the engine has opened up and drives very sweat after a long journey.

Question is why only fit 3 out of 4, aren't they supposed to do all 4 seals at one go?

I had mine replaced 10 days ago and I have not got a squeak (keeping my fingers crossed though) since from the doors. The downside is I am hearing squeaks from my seat now!!

[quote name='MEX' date='May 9 2005, 02:50 PM']i'm getting them installed right now, and they have the same partsnumber, just an extra yellow small dot

Thanks MEX! Any chance that when you pick up your car, you could scan in the workorder for me? I think it would helpful to have it in hand when I go back to this guy and try to explain that it's the same part number. He is putting me off saying the new seals are not out yet, this would help! Thanks

sure no prob, check back again tomorrow and ill post any news. I even think they said something like the seals come in a plastic bag, i dont know , maybe i missheard, but if they have the bag ill give it a check and see if it has stickers with the partsnumbers and the yellow dot.

if they put the change in my workorder ill gladly post it

tnx

I'm going to chase my dealer soon about this issue... To be honest I've been sitting back a little until a sure-fire solution is available?!

I must admit my engine seems to be 'loosening' up too and seems quieter, smoother and more responsive... I'm at 11k miles...

are these the seal where to door touches the body. My problem is that the door gets kinda stuck and makes a "creaking noise" when pulling it lose. Is this the noise we're talking about?

I believe it's the felt-type seal that is between the door and and body. The squeaking that most of us experience is a constant squeaking while driving. The movement of the car causes the seals to rub against the car. At least this is my problem, and what I believe to be the most common problem with the door seals. My brother had a '98 540 and he had the same problems with that car. They eventually replaced his seals, and he never had trouble again. I'm anxious to see how someone here in the US fares with them...if they ever find their way here!!

I am sad to report that after a dealer visit, problem is still here.

I had 3 new seals and had problem in all 4 doors.
Yesterday it was in for the final new type door seal and work to remove any silicone on those new seals.
Dealer says problem is not fixed and gave me car back, whilst they're asking BMW what the hell to do to fix it.
At this point the dealer is basically waiting to be told how to fix it.

Same problem here. I had my changed 3 wks ago, so far so good. U need to ensure they they change all the 4 NOT 3. BTW, quote these P/N: 5121 7057 507, 5121 7057 508, 5121 7057 509 & 5121 7057 510 to ur dealer. Base on these BMW parts no. your dealer shd be able to order and replace it for u in no time. Good luck!
