Hello All
BMW held an event in Sac, Ca to introduce the new 3 Seires. I took a test drive of a 328i...I am happy to report that the Temp. Gage is back again, the car got bigger..but sloppy handling comapred to the Audi (which was present as a compatitor car) ..I also took a wizzzz in the new 528i 2013..which is still the same..but noticed it was not as strong as my 2004 525i and did not have a lot power under my foot. Hope that you all to try them out and tell me what you think

Both the 328 and 528 are 4 cylinder engines so yes the power would be noticeably lower.
I was shuttled in a 328 the other day, and was impressed actually. The auto shut off when at a stop light was annoying, but can save on gas. the interior was much better than before. Still have not tried a new F10 5 series yet, but I am in love with the new 6 series!!!

I also had a 2011 328 as a loaner a few weeks back, it SUCKED, had the sportiness of a Ford Tempo from the 80's - pathetic. I think the 2013 would be hard pressed to be THAT slow.

Engine: M54
F30 is nice, but the idrive screen really needs to retract. as it is now, it looks like your passenger left his/her ipad sitting in a cup holder.
E30 FTW, still.

Um, the new 528 4 cyl engine is a turbo unit that pumps out 245 BHP. The OP's stated car is a 2004 525, which with the M54 had 172 BHP - I suspect he'd notice an extra 73 HP. However, the F10 without sports pkg is, well, boring. Feels like a Lincoln instead of a BMW. With psorts pkg it is transformed.

The new 328 is impressive for a 4-cylinder. Virtually no turbo lag and the 8-speed auto helps get a wicked fast 0-60. However, all around, it is loosing that "fun to drive" factor that makes a bimmer a bimmer... Too much technology and not enough feel. All that said, the new 335i with sport package is about one of the most fun cars I've driven in a long time. Fast, sweet exhaust note and throttle blips that remind me of the E92 M3 and handles extremely well. Loved it.
I've had several of the new 5's as loaners and I don't like the way they drive nearly as much as the E60. My dealership only has x-drive 5's as loaners, so I'm hoping it has more to do with the extra weight and torque being lost to the x-drive. But I have to admit that I do love the styling and fit & finish of the new 5's
