Hi Woodbeast,

Yes, this is Mark's brother in-law. Thanks for pointing me to this forum. It is really cool.

I guess I should have sign-in first before I reply. I didn't think they would let you do that. Anyway, yes, it is me.

Folllow the break in period as described in the manual. These cars have black boxes so you don' t want any warranty problems.

I read in your signature that you added red rear deflectors. Why are they not installed on US models in the first place? I think the black blanks they have in there look ugly. Where do you get the rear deflectors? At the dealer?

Hey gmartin, I dunno where you got this info, but I can tell you that:
1) Not sure what you mean by "black box" but both M car engine and "non-M" car engine has the ability to record the engine condition.

2) ALL BMW's are equipt w/ rev limiter (M car or not).

3) All BMW's have speed limiter, some more than others. i.e. 545/M5/745 (the V8 engines) are limited at 155MPH and all I-line 6 are limited at 125 MPH (exept for the M3 engine, which is limited at 155 MPH).

Just want to get the facts straight. I hope Adrian didn't gave you the info, or I'll have to have a few words w/ that boy

cheers,

beewang

Hey there Mr. Bee,
You are right. They are all limited, but the 525 and 530 are limited at 145mph and 150mph respectively. This is out of the 2005 brochure. 2004 brochure looks the same.

Cheers

welcome aboard, uwsc11 ! my dealer told me break in is only for m cars. but a lot of us, including me, still take it easy during the break in period. as far as the red reflectors, you can get them from your dealer. it's on the accessories brochure now. they are fairly cheap, you can ask your dealer to throw them in for you .
