My Ride: 2008 535xi
Platinum bronze metallic, automatic, cold weather package, fold down rear seats, iPod adapter
My new 535xi arrived last Thursday (6 March) and it absolutely rocks. While still far, far away from the end of the engine break-in period it was a hell of a lot of fun to watch that tail-gating Honda shrink in the rearview mirror.
But one thing I've noticed is that Audi drivers always seem to want to get frisky whenever they see a BMW. They race past you at stoplights, try to cut you off, and are generally a nuisance. This doesn't seem to happen with people driving Mercedes, Infiniti, Lexus, or even other BMWs. Anyone else notice this behavior with Audi drivers?
The Audi 2.0T engine in an A4 is a decent power plant but the 535 will toast it, butter it, eat it up, and shit it out the other end. I'm not willing to come out and play with the Audi drivers until my engine is broken in. After that, watch out.

I am a former Audi driver, didn't really have the need to rev/mess with any other drivers. Haven't noticed anyone really messing with me in my e60. A few here and there, but no specific car type (i.e.: audi or mb).
Congrats on the ride, my 2cents about those "audi" drivers messing with you, let it go. Not worth the chance of causing an accident and/or messing up your e60.

Congrats on the new ride and welcome to the xi family. What's going to be your first mod?
Second mod might be a radar detector. I set the speed limit in the iDrive to 75 and the alarm kept going off all the time. It is very easy to find yourself in technical violation of the law in that car.
Trying to hold down my speed, I let a guy pass me yesterday. A quarter-mile ahead, there was a radar trap and he got a ticket. <whew>

The Audi thing is called the "little brother" complex. It's a well known Audi driver issue.
Congrats on your new car. 535xi is the model we really miss in Europe.
