Let me start off by saying I have a new 08 528i (2 months old) which I love. My baby is going in for service on a very minor, non-mechanical issue. But I also asked the SA if they could adjust the air vent setting so when I start the car it would remember the last setting when I shut down (that is, even if I turn off the air flow on shut down, on re-starting the air vent automatically comes back on low). I read in one of the posts that the iDrive can be reprogrammed by BMW to retain the last setting. SA said he thought they could do that. My question is - should I allow them to do that? Ya know the old saying - if it aint broke don't fix it. Something gnaws at me that if they do any reprogramming - something else will go wrong. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Thanks.

My SA works for BMW since 1979 and he says exactly what you are saying: if it's working, DON'T touch it! He claims that especially with a CCC, there is a possibility of a malfunction after reprogramming.
