So I leased a week ago a "new' 6K miles on the odometer, from BMW NA use a 2008 528i.

It's got the sports package, and a large load of optional features and so far it's been a blast to drive.
Very linear, awesome responsiveness, excellent handing, sport seats are the most comfortable I've ever had. The parktronic is fun / cool and seems so far to be useful. The navigation is better than the Audi and Mercedes factory navs.

My problems however are concerning to me:

1. The homelink range of transmittal has shrunk from across the street from the garage to 3 feet in front of the door. Also two of the three programmed homelink buttons has lost its programming.
I had them all programmed for the same access since I only have one door, I've tried my other car and a hand held remote - everything else works fine.

2. I have lost bluetooth association with my phone twice now, no problems ever with each of my other cars or headset. I have had to completely delete the phone setup and recreate it from scratch as the car get stuck trying to "find" the phone.

3. The car on every acceleration gives a creak/squeal/groan that sounds like both door / pillars are flexing in their seals. It makes the car sound like a cheap beater rather than a new luxury sedan. I've never had sounds like this on three previous German cars nor any of my new cars since the 1980's - it almost sounds like a bed frame flexing. I may not have noticed this on the test drive and the sales guy had the radio on and was talking a mile a minute.

4. Audio Commands are wildly off base - A-Z becomes climate control or takes me into settings menu. I cannot navigate reliably more than 15% of the time with the audio commands into my phone list after a week of trying.

I am going to take the car in - any good pointers/ TSB's / should I push on a battery as the car was in NJ for the 6K miles and now is in California... could it be just a poorly performing battery for the electronic issues?

I would let your local dealer check it out, you should be covered.

For point #3.

I'd have to say BMW is notorious on this one. Not sure what it is but all of our cars are guilty of the same thing. Apparently its the door seals rubbing against the metal door frame. The car has so much aluminum it flexes. This is why I always play the radio. =p

Thanks for the replies - I'm definitely taking it in, I cannot believe that the sound I am hearing is normal, the seals should be able to handle this type of flex and prevent the noise - otherwise every automotive writer would mention it over and over again and I'm sure some folks would have it as an avatar/ play on words...

I just thought if anyone had TSB's on some of the issues, as with my previous cars a few folks ran into specific issues, it might help point the SA's in the right direction(s)

So,
I am more than a bit ticked off.

I dropped in on my not so friendly neighborhood dealer, they were absolute Adam Henry material. I got better service when I had a FORD Ranger in the eighties.

The SA informed me of no loaners whatsoever,a total shock as my salesdroid had stated all 5 series and up by BMW policy have loaners and when the manager came out I ran down the list of items, he proceeds to recite a two year olds mantra about how to program homelink.
They will not cover a rental car unlessthe item is safety related and takes more than 2.5 hours to perform.

I had emailed this information to my salesdroid Sunday, then called and spoke to a service manager who turns out to be an SA at my purchasing dealership. The SA said he would read the email and get back to me asap, no call by COB today from the SA nor my salesdroid.

BMW CS hd also said someone would contact me but nothing yet.

Anyone got a good contact for SOCAL I want to give my dealer a chance but I am not going to sit around if things don't speed up and get professional right quick

Wait - did you take the car to the local dealership, the dealership where you purchased it, or are they one and the same? If you took the car in for service at a dealership other than where you bought it, then the servicing dealer is under no obligation to loan you a car.

Regardless - sorry to hear about your problems.

Thanks - it's not the end of the world, by far, and I am holding this in perspective, but I want to get to the bottom of this quickly and resolve it.

Sorry for the confusion - composing with an online editor on a BB is a bit hard in between meetings and picking up business associates flying in from the Czech republic.

The fist dealer was not my selling dealer, however I was informed by my salesperson that it was a BMW policy, like Audi used to have a loaner policy. So I took his word for it. ( my mistake).

My first Audi 2000 - 0 questions on a loaner, regardless of the dealer, then Audi changed the program in 2004 So when i was comparing cost of maintenance - a rental figured in and I was misinformed by my selling dealer.

The second dealer is my selling dealer.

I EXPECTED that the first dealer ( Beverly Hills BMW) would have been highly professional and not fed me a line of B.S. that would have ended up costing me $129 a day x however many days it takes for them to figure out what's going on. - there was no diagnosis -this service manager wanted me gone - period as the other customers could see I was pissed.

I was flat out told that BMW would not cover the cost of a rental for a car that is squeaking/groaning/rattling without them even bothering to take a drive, but that's what you get from dealers who are full of themselves. If you walked in and got a rolly poly twenty something female SA who's never turned a wrench, changed oil, nor even looks like she's ever stressed any vehicle near it's limit ever, and see that the whole thing is going to turn into a sunshine/mananna/bs trip you know how steamed you would get.

I've owned planes, WOT engines to get out of a sticky situation at least twice, sailed boats - partial owner, have a motorcycle endorsement, ( heck my sister got me into BMW Road Riders of America - I tooled around on my yamaha, them my Honda then a AMF(Harley) Sportser 883 and she went across the USA twice..a

And me escalating to the manager got exactly his best, "I'm going to quote policy until this creep disappears."

I did exactly that, and am now waiting for my selling dealer to get it's act together.
