Got the 550i and it came with run flats.

Do they all come with run flats? The car has a spare and I asked the fleet manager if anything would happen if I went to regular tires. He told me the bushings on the car would go out quicker because of the softer ride. Seems like crap to me.

What do you guys think?

Thanks,

Rock

I think that you are hearing BS on the bushings issue.
I would change to NRFs if those are really RFs. Interesting that it came with a spare....why?
RFs usually do not come with a spare (the spare is not needed).

That was my 1st question when he showed me where the spare was and proceeded to tell me it had run flats.

Has anyone went to run flats yet on their E-60 and do you notice a difference in the ride?

Correction non-run flat tires sorry.

My '07 550 came with a spare as well. Glad to have it because I can use non RF winter tires. As for the bushings it would make more sense if they lasted longer with non-RF's because of the softer ride and therefore less impact on the bushings. But then again I'm not an automotive engineer.

Let get this straight -- the dude who said your bushings would wear out if you switched to conventional tires was also the guy who said the car came with runflats? I'm willing to bet your car does not have runflats at all...

Even if it was someone else at the dealership who told you it had runflats -- just check for yourself. Read the tire's sidewall and tell us what you see and we'll tell you what you have if you aren't sure. I think this would be the first US-spec LCI 550i with runflats from the factory...I'm not convinced just yet...
