I agree.. The new look of the standard- and sportseat headrest is terrible. I also think it have a Mercedes look, and that is not good.

Pictures of the new comfort seats..

Can you adjust them like the previous ones?

Got my new (last week in August '07 build) 523i with the new Comfort Seats yesteday. Like some of the people above I was concerned that they didn't look as good as the old Comfort Seats, however they are better than they look. I had a 523i LCI with Sport Seats so I can can't compare like-for-like. Some pictures attached. Any questions, please let me know.

Thanks for posting these. I'm ordering Comfort Seats on my new 525iSE as I have driven several 5 series with standard and sports seats and find both to be uncomfortable as they lack support for the upper back (the backrests slope away rearwards). It's a shame that they've changed the design of the headrests though, as the new ones don't look as good and I'm sure won't be as comfortable (the old ones 'cupped' around the neck, the new ones will 'cup' around the whole head). Given that the headrests in the 'old' comfort seats were already equipped with anti-whiplash technology, I don't understand why they've changed the design to look the same as the other variants?

If the old ones cup around you neck, you're setting yourself up for a severe whiplash injury. The headrests are way too low.

BTW, the new headrests are fine. The "wings" are just as comfortable as the models I test drove, plus they have significantly improved crash performance.

Indeed. While the old headrests might have looked more unusual, the new ones are more comfortable (having spent equal time with both).

Has anyone looked into whether early '08 (or prior) comfort seat headrests can be replaced by the new ones? My June '07 build has the older ones. I don't like how sloped back they are. The new ones look more vertical, better for comfort and safety.
