... or only speak/read English.

Looks like the sports seats may not be available in the US.

It really does seem odd how the choice of cars and options varies SO much between markets. I thought that all E60s were built at the same factory in Germany - if that's the case, I wonder why the various engines and internal options aren't offered globally? Some of them perhaps don't meet certain country criteria for licensing/legal reasons ... but others are just odd. For example, I'd have jumped at the chance to get an "x" 4 wheel drive version, something on a par with the Quattro system from Audi, but it's just not available in the UK. And I understand that in the US you can't get the "individual audio" option even though I know many of you would have jumped at that option. It can't be down to "marketing" or anything like that ... because deciding to withhold a profitable option for sale from some markets, which many people want, just doesn't make sense. Can anyone shed any light on it?? Maybe a new thread is needed...

I just put this together to show the three different seating images from the UK configurator. The comfort seats look much less impressive...

Does that mean you can now move the headrests forward on all seat types? Or is it only the Comfort Seat that still has this function and the others (Std & Sport) only move forward in an accident?

I think the latter is true. All move forward in an accident using pyrotechnics. The comfort seats are likely still adjustable, but details are sparse.

It seems like a nice safety upgrade if you don't have the comfort seats.

I'm hoping somebody with an 07' September+ E60 with comfort seats will post here soon telling us how great and comfy they are... if not, it will be mid October before I get mine and can write a review and compare them to the comfort seats in the E70 X5 which are truly superb, and were what I was hoping to get in my E60...

Well that was wishful thinking that they had a new comfort feature on all seats. But I agree, the safety feature is a very nice upgrade. I recently read that the X5 did particularly badly in crash tests, which forced BMW to introduce the changes to the X5 (and 5er) outside of a normal face lift program.

Got my new (last week in August '07 build) 523i with the new Comfort Seats yesteday. Like some of the people above I was concerned that they didn't look as good as the old Comfort Seats, however they are better than they look. I had a 523i LCI with Sport Seats so I can can't compare like-for-like. Some pictures attached. Any questions, please let me know.

To me, it looks like they only changed the headrests -- the only other thing I'm noticing (but can't tell for sure) is that the side bolsters might be a little larger but I'm too lazy to compare it against another pic of the older seat. (Something tells me it's just a headrest change though...)

Only headrests are changed, after the humilating test done a couple of months ago where all BMW seats recieved a "red" note. BMW said after the test that they will change the construction from model year 08, in other words from September production. But as darraghn had his car built in August they seems to have moved on a bit...
