I just did the vent hose among others on a friend's N62 in his E53 X5. Plastic "Y" connector under the throttle body broke in two places. Originally thought it might be the valley pan gasket - sure glad it wasn't.

Plugged the Foxwell 510 in (very easy to learn to use) and came up with:
274E - DTC/DME Misfire detection, sumcheck error
2743 - DTC/DME Misfire detection, cylinder 5
Did not clear the old codes yet, want to make sure I am using the Foxwell correctly before doing that, and want to fix the coolant leak before proceeding so I can start the car without making a mess. So it could be an old code, but I have a feeling the way it is running, probably not. Does your screen report limp mode ? I didn't see that. Just ran real rough. I replaced the passenger right side wheel well liner a few drives back. Wonder if I bumped something, like a vacuum hose.
Guess I should mention car has 82K miles on it. Spark plugs changed at 65 or 70K. Geeze, thought I had replaced plugs, but can't find documentation. maybe its waaay overdue.

Happy to report, that replacing cyl #5 ignition coil solved the issue. Interestingly, the new coil is coated in rubber/plastic material, where the original coil had metal components exposed and did have some slight oxidation on them. must be a design improvement. Another clue that I had noticed before this became a big issue, was my car was not starting immediately as in the past. seemed it took a few extra rotations of the starter to get it going. now it is almost back to normal. next step is to replace all coils and plugs. cyl #4 and #8 are gonna be tough!
