I just did my first oil change in my 2007 550i. Everything went smoothley and I finished the service in about 45 min. I have been on a few forums and have tried what most people say I need to do to reset the computer I.E. Holding Odometer reset button for 10 seconds and reseting it that way. Well, when I hit the reset button it shows the caution triangle but as soon as I realease the button the triangle goes away. I even held the button down for around 20 seconds and as said on the forum a bunch of German gibberish comes up and I just ended up taking the key out. I am wondering if the procedure is different for me because I have a Key Fob as apposed to a regular key. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. My car is still under warrenty so if the computer is not working the way it is suppopsed to, I am pretty sure I can take it in to get checked out.

If your car is still under warranty and the BMW maintenance agreement you should NOT reset the oil service indicator until the CBS [condition based service] is performed by your dealer. Otherwise, BMW will not be able to do the (free) oil service as provided by the program. I'd simply record the oil change in your maintenance book (mileage, date, oil & filter etc).

If you are, however, no longer covered by the BMW maintenance agreement, the reset procedures are posted in the forum. I don't have it bookmarked but I'm sure someone else will chime in and provide it or direct assistance on the DIY reset.
