Question

hi everyone:
i just installed an HID conversion kit for my '04 545i. unfortunately, i cant bypass the computer check up (the hid conversion kit is 35 watt and the org fog light is 55w) . the idrive will show both foglight failure and the fog light itself will be okay for a while and start flicking like strobe light in the night club... some people suggest me to hook it up to the parking light, but i really rather to be able to bypass the check up(you know how the new 5 is with all those warning sound & display..) does anyone here have the same experience or better yet, the solution? any help will be greatly appreciated...
thanks from the new guy

Is there a different bulb that is more comparable? Others here have replaced the fogs -- do a search using PIAA as a keyword.

I wouldn't recommend tapping into the parking light circuit. You may cause a new set of iDrive malfunction warnings and you also will not have control over when the foglights are on. (I know, some people would think fogs on with parking lights would be a 'feature' but I won't get into that at this time...)

the color of 8000k doesn't match our xenon at all. unless he wants something different .

Ya thats true... that would make the fogs dark blue! If matching is all thats wanted... the PIAA way is a lot cheaper. for $300 true HID we can buy a few replacement bulbs.

hi:
thanks for the warm welcome and input...i have the 10000k d2s to replace the headlight bulbs and the matching 10000k conversion kit for the fog light...they are really cool color ...too bad about the fog light at this time..i might go to the dealer next week and see if one of the tech there is willing to bypass the computer for me... if it ever works in the future...i will show you guys some pics...by the way...for those who wants to change the fog light bulbs...it is actually 9006 not H8 like what they say on the net...

well, in the time that you are buying more replacements, the HID's will still be alive and well . and plus, the PIAA's are really bad for your wiring. i had issues with melting harnesses and recently had a problem with a full electrical short in my car because of them, it took my mechanic's 3 weeks to find the problem mainly because it's not as obvious where the socket is melted or something like that. it went all over the place. this was in my honda odyseyy.
