Hey guys, was in the process of cleaning engine compartment and came across this on the passenger side. Anyone know what it is? Thanks in advance for any help.

I don't think BMW put it there - looks like someone rigged up something. Is there an aftermarket alarm, tire pressure monitoring system, or other added electronic system on the car? Try to take a picture of the black box, showing all the info written on it. Flip the long grey thing over - lets see the other side of it.

Based on the bad tape job and ground wire just stuck under a screw without terminal, I would definitely say non OEM. Unless you have lots of aftermarket electrical installs, I would think the function should be easy to pick out from the cab (assuming some sort of activation method). If not, it doesnt look too hard to trace the wires as they are not in looms
