Please, or something. I've checked out the technical pdf's in the Gallery, searched and searched all the forums on this site, searched google, searched other bmw forums. Wow, I mean I could've missed it somewhere, but again, I thought most on here were from the Mike Miller Old School of Maintanence gang and would have come across this already.

No big deal, I'm just coming up on my car's two year birthday, so still have time to perform the coolant flush. But it'd be useful for others who look this up down the road too.

thanks for any input you can provide fellow members.

Thursday night I had the front bumper off my car. It looks like you can reach the plug there...

OMG! Really, you mean you have to take your bumper off to get to the radiator drain plug. WOW!

Thanks for the info man. How hard was it to take the bumper off?

It's at best a guest from a person from the Internet... so... haha.
Taking the bumper off makes getting to the grill a lot easier. I cleaned all the bugs and rocks out of mine when I had it off. If you can't reach it from the front, you can at least pull the underbody cover down and reach up.

Getting the bumper off is a _lot_ easier than you think. You can do it by your self if you go slowly and carefully. I have the basic bumper. I followed the instructions from TIS 51 11 156 which I found in the DIY section (and of course I can't find it now...).

*EDIT
The reason I had it off is because of this thread

550s must have different radiators because I just drained and filled my 530i. Once you remove the front bottom panel the drain is right there. It has a red knob to it that you just turn and the coolant funnels out.

Well like i said earlier in this post, I do see a red plug on the passenger side bottom of the radiator, but I'm hesistant to unscrew it as A. it appears to have some sort of sealant around the bottom of the plug and B. I thought the drain plugs were suppose to be blue.

No other 550 owners have drained their coolant?

I'm not giving up on this. That one person out there with a 550i sport who drained his coolant last week but hasn't signed on for a month is bound to log on and jump all over the opportunity to help a fellow owner and E60 forum member out. Where are you?!?!?!?!?!?!?
