Need help with 2 new problems...
#1 My rear screen demister has stopped working
Are the electrics in the C pillar as was the case on my E39? If so, I'll have a poke around and see if I can sort it. As well as location info, does anyone have any ideas? (had a new rear window fitted last year when the aerial stopped working).
#2 This afternoon I noticed my internal fan has lost power after the 2 setting. It gets stronger going from nothing to 2, but then doesn't get any stronger when turning to 3 and 4
Turned the iginition off and on, tried the auto setting but to no avail! I'd welcome ideas on this one too!
Thanks.
Ian.

#2 Make sure you have the climate control set to manual. On my 08 there are not fan speed "numbers" on the dial, just marks. The auto function will only crank up the fan when its very hot outside.
Thanks for that. I'm sure the demister worked after the window was changed, so hopefully it is a blown fuse - will check. As for the fan control, it's got the 1 to 4 manual markings and it used to blow strong on 4. I also set the temp to 16 on a hot day with the air-con on and usually it would blow strong normally, but again no joy. I am not sure how the fan control works. If the fan works up to two does that mean the actual fan motor is fine and it's just some sort of resister problem with the knob or whatever the knob feeds a signal to?!
Thanks for input so far.

Since you are checking your fuses anyway, its entirely possible that a blown fuse ties into both problems. Otherwise you will probably have to have a service pro take a look.

In my case (E60), they did change both the regulator and the fan, twice.
This is a common (and well know at the BMW) problem with the E60's (+ once in my '01 E39).
Must be replaced within the warranty, cause it's a malfunctioned part!
The regulator is a bitch to change in the E60, the part costs close to nothing
but it will take some 4 hours to change it.
(In the E39 it took about a minute to change it)!
I'll start with the fuses just in case. If it's as complex as you say (@ ?100/hour), I'll have to live with a not so fast fan.... Air con seems to still be cold though when turned on?
