Need to get inside trunk from rear seat, need help
#1
I have a 2004 530i with no ski package option. I cannot get into my trunk since I believe the steel cable is removed from latch. I want to gain access to my trunk by going through the rear
seats. I want to cut out a piece of the wall behind the center arm rest or the left or right seat. Will there be any wires around these areas? And how does the back part of the seat come out? I noticed the bottom seat cushion pulls out but I need to know how to remove the upright portion of back seat. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forums!
Here's how you remove the backrest of the rear seat:

Then, removing the plastic cover in a backrest:

Then you have a clear access to the baseplate of the backrest. Just cut through it, there's nothing in it like wires etc.
Here's couple of pics...

Is the metal behind the plastic plate thick? I was thinking about drilling a hole into it, then using a reciprocating saw to cut out the metal. Do you know how to remove the back part of rear seat in case I need to cut a bigger hole. I noticed from looking at other photos of trunks, imagine your facing my open trunk and look towards back wall of trunk, you will notice a square size area and on both side of square are a curved cover of some sort. Directly behind each curved cover you would have the wall for each rear seat side. If I cut out behind the actual seat will I damage something?

The backplate itself is not metal, it's plastic and I believe some recycled materials, easy to cut.
Here's some more instructions on how to remove things:
