After ordering a Denison 500 MOST ipod connection at cost of ?250, I am now told I need to have my CDC activated on the I-drive. This is apparently a main dealer only job. I am always wary of dealing with them - how much time should this take - I want to try to keep them honest - yes, I know - fat chance.

Otherwise, if anyone knows anyone who could activate the CDC on the i-drive (Dec 2003, 530d), PLEASE GET IN TOUCH !

Thanks again !

First, unless you have a changer, I doubt they will activate it. You need the changer installed first to activate. They won't just flick a switch.

They will need to update your Progman so be prepared for that in addition to other charges.

Thanks - very helpful.

I am beginning to think that I should get a changer installed (ironically, this might keep my cost down) or just send the dam ipod kit back and get a refund. It is a HUGE hassle so far - still, as they say - fail to prepare, prepare to fail !

Why not install the BMW aftermarket iPod kit? It's quite good (I had one in my 2006).

Please consider adding a signature with details of your car, such as year, and fill in your location in your profile

Thanks for the feedback - the location is UK - car is an E60 - December 2003 530d se. I'll fill these in on profile tonight.

I will check if I can get the aftermarket ipod kit installed.

If you can, I would do that. The Dension is probably a bit more advanced but you won't have to jump through that many hoops for the BMW model. Let us know because MY2003 is on the cusp (in fact, MY 2003 for E60 doesn't exist in the U.S. for that matter).

Hi!
The Dension Gateway can fully simulate a CD Changer, so if it is installed (with the latest firmware), the BMW diagnostic equipment accepts it as a real Changer!
So no need for a factory CDC.

BMW NA has already told me that dealers won't code a car with a non BMW product attached.
