[b]Hello i'm wondering if there is any free map update for my 2004 530 i noticed driving in some locations that the directions from my nav are wrong particularly on new road construction. i called my dealer they told me it cost around $ 300.00 for a dvd update i think it's a rip off.
Thanks for your reply

Did you look on eBay for maps newer than yours but not the newest? That would be the obvious route (no pun intended).

i was wondering about it too. is there anyone on this forum who could just burn a copy of a newer disc?

DVD is not suppose to cost more then $20 and it's sure a rip off at the dealership

Please do not discuss the piracy of copyrighted material on the forums!

JSpira's idea about searching eBay is a good one if you are not willing to pay the premium for the latest maps from NavTeq or your dealer...

Before you purchase the "latest" update, go to the navteq website and enter the address or zip where you know, from your existing DVD, that there are roadway changes that are not showing. See if the website map shows the latest and greatest. You may be buying an updated version but it still may not reflect the changes in your area. Navteq's website has a reporting system for users to alert them to missing information and you can provide it to them - a little cumbersome, IMO, but they will respond and get into a future update.

If you are considering buying a map upgrade/update on Ebay you should first confirm that it is an original DVD and NOT a copy. Many sellers post a picture of the real deal and then ship a burned copy. That is both unreliable and illegal. As for earlier posts, map updates generally lag mapping by about 6+ months - so the newest roads and POIs will be somewhat dated anyway.

Unless you travel in areas that have undergone massive road reconfiguration campaigns, a 2006-2007 map date should be adequate.

As always, for auctions it's buyer be informed and beware!
