OK, but can you use voice command to enter each letter of the place, street etc similar to the phone number voice command or do you have to twirl the I-drive knob for each letter?

Fortunately, adaptive text entry is used. This means that only letters that 'could' be there will appear; you don't have to deal with selecting from the entire alphabet. E.g. If you've twirled in "A" for the first letter of a city or street name, "A" would not appear as the second selectable letter if no street names are found that start with "AA".

Don't forget about the time-saving zipcode entry method. Instead of spelling out the name of the city, you can scroll past the letter 'Z' and numerically enter a 5-digit zipcode...

One day BMW will be able to do it too, but it will take those engineers a decade, I think, to figure out how MB is doing it...
