I have a 520d (E60) from 2007 with business nav (shared drive for nav disc and music) and i have a problem.
I tried to eject the nav disc and i get this message on the CID "NAVIGATION DVD BLOCKED". I am not sure if this is blocked as in jammed or the eject feature is somehow disabled by CCC.
There is no otehr option presented on the CID except the RETURN sign.

Does anybody know how to fix this issue without going to the dealer?

Any help is highly appreciated.

Thank You!

I'm not too familiar with the Business Nav system but have you tried holding down the eject button for an extended length of time?

Most optical disk drives have a tiny hole near the eject button that can be used to mechanicaly eject the media if it gets stuck. I've successfully done this on PC's using a straightened paper clip. I am not sure the e60 drives have this capability since I've never had to deal with this problem, but take a look and give it a try if you find the hole.

Business navigation has a "lock" feature for rental car purposes, but if I rememeber correctly, it ask pin code if you want eject disk.

Couple years ago I rented e60, which had a business navigation and I could not use my music cd's at begining, but luckily I found the cd changer from glove box.

Couple minutes with WDS helped. The rest is copy-paste from WDS (Only default pin hided):

Navigation system: DVD lock
The optional extra ?anti-theft protection navigation DVD? enables a DVD lock of the navigation DVD for corporate customers. The corporate customer vehicles are delivered ex works with this optional extra. Vehicles can also be upgraded by means of the Progman and then adjusted with this service function.

New vehicles are delivered with the following default settings:

DVD lock always active: the eject button is disabled.

Up to model year 03/2006, vehicles were delivered with the following default settings:

DVD lock with PIN query active.

The default 4-digit PIN is XXXX.

The 4-digit PIN is queried when the eject button is operated. When the PIN is entered, the navigation DVD is ejected.

This service function can be used to read out or change the settings of the DVD lock.

Activating or deactivating the DVD lock
The DVD lock has the three possible states described below:

DVD lock inactive: the navigation DVD is ejected when the eject button is operated.

DVD lock with PIN query active: the set 4-digit PIN is queried when the eject button is operated. When the PIN is entered, the navigation DVD is ejected.
This service function can be used to change the 4-digit PIN.

DVD lock always active: the eject button is disabled.

Thank You for the comprehensive information.

My situation was "DVD lock always active" so i have been today at my dealer and they unlock it.
I dont know how as they took the car in the service area of the premises where there is no customer access.

Anyway, i upgraded my 2007-1 dvd. I have now 2007-2(business) and i can say there is no significant difference. Does anybody know if there is a 2008-1 business version available yet?
I downloaded 2008-1 Pro with cams but when i insert the disc i get "DVD not recognised" on the CID.

What do you mean - downloaded? Is it possible to buy online and then burn a DVD?

The Professional and Business data discs are compatible only with their respective hardware systems.

As for "significant differences" between releases - you won't find any - it's only data. New road layouts and corrections to reported navigation problems.

The OCD among us (me included) always want to upgrade for entirely irrational reasons.
