I don't have the On-Board Navigation. The question is can I have it installed on the existing iDrive screen by a dealer or custom body shop?

I can't remember the answer to this question, but it's been asked MANY times on this board. Search by Nav or Navigation retrofit.

I did find this though...

"According to SI B 84 10 04 dated June 2004, the only requirement is if you have option 6UA, CCC pre-wiring. The bulletin does not specify a model year. Give your parts guy at BMW your VIN number and he can tell you if you have that option. It will not necessarily appear on your window sticker. Until May 31, 2005, BMW will pick up any cost over the option price of $1800 for parts and labor. Don't know what the price will be after that, but it will be the owner's responsibility.
