i highly recommend the garmin streetpilot gps system which sits on the dash, and plugs into the cigarette lighter.
i think the voice direction and graphical interface is far better than bmw.
a less expensive but a better product, simple and effective. no need to open up your entire dash to drill / dig.
i chose it over bmw apart from availability is i need to bring it between 3 cars.

this new model looks nice.

Ya I'm waiting for that to come out. I was going to get the Garmin 2610 but heck this one seems better.

Now should I get the memory card one or the HD built in one?

Is there another way to find out if you have 6UA installed? Does the 2005's come with 6UA already? It seems there is still conflicting information about NAV and it being retrofited into E60's.

I think best and easiest way is to call BMW NA and give them your VIN and ask them. 1-800-831-1117

6UA is no longer an option on MY2005, which means it cannot be retrofit. I tried to get it done at my local dealer. They actually thought it could be done, but when they coudn't find pre-wiring to the CCC, they filed a PUMA case and confirmed that it could not be done on my 2005 525 (9/04 build)

The final work order stated: Customer requests nav installed. Unable to install CCC-Navigation due to no option 6UA (pre-wiring for CCC) installed. Refer to bulletin 84 10 04.

Irritating thing was that I called BMWNA: they said it could be done and to call my local dealer. Called my local dealer: they said it could be done, so they ripped apart my car only to find out they couldnt do it!

They were going to charge me $1935 for parts and about 4 hours labor @ $150/hour-but they couldn't perform it anyway.
