I ordered as others said by phone direct from navteq. They send it to you direct (BMW probably takes their profit from Navteq directly).

Copies do work, but i have noticed that the dvd player jerks a lot with copies.
Had tried several burners and dvd-r's and the only way to not hear the jerk sound is to use the original. You only notice what i'm talking about if you are very picky, like me

I had not noticed any differences, but only tried for a few short runs swapping disks. Could there be additional differences with regional coding (i.e NA versus Europe). I'll try testing more features and see if I can find differences. I used a ordinary version (not deluxe) of Roxio. Not sure what they actually use for the burner engine. I have not been doing a lot of burning recently so have not been paying attention to progress in burner technology.

I'll post my test results in a few days as I will be turning car in for repairs (self inflicted gunshot wound that I am too embarrased to talk about here)

You can make back up copies using Nero Rom as well. I use a back up in mine to ensure my original is good.
Just make sure you do a slow copy and slow burn to ensure better quality. Worked for me.

So copies do work.

People should start sharing (not for profit of couse) Europe nav DVD when they do Euro derivery. It's a crime to buy a disk for $180 and use it for a week only. Are you listening Beewang?

The 7 and the 5 series and the new E90 use the same disk.

Reports from this forum say otherwise though.

Different part numbers also.
