Once the map is displayed, look for the options on the left side of the main screen.
The first option on the top is the one that offers to mute the NAV voice. Toggle using the i-drive and select that first option.
That will keep it on mute all the time. (note that even if you program your steering wheel button for NAV voice, that button would not work if you have the voice muted.)
