It should allow us to search alphabetical or distace.
I assume you mean display. I think we all agree - so long as what is found can be diplayed better than my example above.

Searching would be useful only if you could read what you found. What's the use of finding:

LONDON HEATHROW AIRPORT TERMINA
LONDON HEATHROW AIRPORT TERMINA
LONDON HEATHROW AIRPORT TERMINA
LONDON HEATHROW AIRPORT TERMINA

and not being able to read the rest of it?

Anyone know how to display the balance of missing characters truncated by the screen width?

ABC
Been there, done that. Cannot figure it out without selecting one and then the other. And from 2008, you'll have

LONDON HEATHROW AIRPORT TERMINA
LONDON HEATHROW AIRPORT TERMINA
LONDON HEATHROW AIRPORT TERMINA
LONDON HEATHROW AIRPORT TERMINA
LONDON HEATHROW AIRPORT TERMINA

Not good.

Seems like both of these problems (alpha list + scrollable display) should be solvable via a software update. While we're making software updates , let's add the feature where you type in a phone number and the system looks up the address and then guides you to the address.

BTW, is there a process where we can 'formally' request these features from BMW?

My Garmin GPS bougth 5 years ago has more features that the 12007 BMW. And no comparison to my wife's Subaru, which has a Panasonic nav. Its sooooooooo much better. But then, our basic functions sort of work, except that the routing sucks big time.

It already exists.

No typing.

It's called BMW Assist.

I have had the same problem with Frankfurt Airport.
I don't remember how, but I have found a way that time how to use it quickly... Need to take a look at it in my car again...
But I agree, it is annoying!

Maybe call Xerox since Apple stole the WIMP GUI idea from them.

a) Youre cottrcting me? There is no record of Apple buying any sucj rights. In fact Xerox didn't scrap WIMP GUI they released it in 1981 in the Xerox Star including a bit-mapped display, a window-based GUI, mouse, Ethernet networking, file servers, print servers and e-mail.

In the mid 80s, Apple considered buying Xerox out, however a deal was never reached.

In the late 1980s, Xerox sued Apple over their use of the graphical user interface. The Xerox case was dismissed because the three year statute of limitations had passed -- Xerox had waited too long to file a suit.

b) So research into historical events is now guided by reference to movies?

"People will look at this movie and think it portrays history when it doesn't."

c) So STILL go to Xerox since they invented WIMP GUI.

THAT, at least, is a fact.
