I got my hands on the U.S. Nav DVD 2007-2 and I can't get it to load. The Euro DVD (also 2007-2) loads fine.

Has anybody swapped from Euro to U.S. or vice-versa and had this problem?

I contacted BMW Assist and they said that I have to fax the warranty registration form in so they can re-program the car in order to accept the U.S. DVD. Currently, all BMW Assist numbers stored in my car are for Germany.

Just curious if anyone else had this issue (especially those who ED'd their car)

Happens all the time - not a problem as long as the DVDs are current.

This doesn't quite sound right. I am not aware that BMW Assist can do anything to the car programming wise.

In addition, since BMW Assist doesn't work in Germany in U.S.-spec cars (yours is U.S. spec, right?), I'm not sure what needs to be reprogrammed. There might be a setting that the dealer changes which tells the TCU how to function. I would need more detail here on what you mean by "numbers that are stored."

Although these are just data DVDs it is possible that a five-year-old DVD simply won't work. Before going through any elaborate trouble shooting, I would try a new one, preferably from at least the year your car was made.

Sorry, I meant to say that I have the U.S. version 2007-2 (previous post was edited). Thus I'm switching from Europe to U.S. using the same version.

The car is U.S. spec
All of the BMW assist numbers programmed in the idrive under "communications" are German (+49 prefix). There is no way I can change them.

Ah, ok. That makes sense.

The car should have no trouble with the nav DVD. It's possible the DVD itself is bad. Bring the DVD back to the dealer and they'll exchange it.

Regarding the numbers, that's how BMW Assist is set when a U.S. car is delivered in Europe. BMW Assist is effectively off at that point and you get the numbers which are not dialed through assist but through your mobile (one reason, beyond the fact that the U.S. BMW Assist service isn't supported in Europe is that your car came with a CDMA TCU and Europe uses GSM) . This is changed at the VDC in the U.S. before the car is sent to the dealer. Since the VDC apparently missed here, I would bring this to the attention of your CA at the dealership where the car was purchased and I'm sure they can have the service dept. sort it out.

It's probably the electronic equivalent of throwing a switch.

Both DVD's are recognized on my PC so I know the disk is readable. Its an orginal DVD. I did notice a difference between the file structures. The Europe version has a few more files.

Once I get set up with BMW assist here I'm sure this will get sorted out. I'll keep posting as I get updates.

Just curious - for those using NAV 2007-2 in the U.S. is the part# 65 90 0 426 554?

Update:

It turns out that my car requires the DVD-CCC version.

This part number: 65 90 0 426 554 is non-CCC and will not work. But it appears there are some folks here using this sucessfully in their LCI E60s?
