And is it enough room to unscrew it from the bottom of the car? I mean, what is the easiest way?
Thank you for your help!
Hi cRaCkZzZz, Was you able to unscrew from the bottom? Is it 8mm torx? Thanks a lot.

Any help is greatly appreciated. I wasn't able to remove brackets to remove oil cooler lines. Is it only doable if the engine is to be lifted? Thanks a lot.

tcpipmen, which project are you undertaking? The timing cover gaskets? The engine does not need to be lifted for that.

For the alternator bracket gasket, yes, you need to life the engine.

Hi westsidebalto, I'm doing upper timing cover gaskets. One of bolts on upper timing gasket is blocked by the oil cooler pipeline and I'm having hard time removing a bracket holding the oil cooler pipeline. That is upside down and I tried with L shape T25 torx socket but no luck. Really stuck here. Thanks for your help.

Anyone have pics or a good writeup specifically for the 550i. The timing cover is a bitch. How do you get to that bottom bolt?

So....did anybody ever figure out how to get the bottom bolt off the timing cover, with the two oil lines in the way. Do I need to jack the engine to get to that upside down screw?
Just started the valve cover and timing cover gasket job. Everything was going smoth till I ran into this. Any advise would be greatly appreciated!

I'm currently stuck on that same upper timing cover bolt. I'm thinking I need to loosen or move those two rigid oil cooler lines like you mentioned. I can feel the bracket and can feel a single T25 torx bolt (according to others) but can't see it too well. Got any advice that might save me some time when I go to try to take out that bolt? It's just securing the lines, right? Like holding them to the block but not sealing them to anything - I wont get oil leaking from there if the bolt is removed, right? Thanks

I was able to use a T25 screwdriver bit and a small pair of pliers to unscrew that screw holding the oil lines. I was careful not to fully remove the screw. Just loosen enough to get the oil lines out of the way to get to that bolt.
And a lot of patience!
Good luck!
