N62 Intake Manifold
Could someone please tell me if the Intake manifold can be seperated and that gasket changed?
Smoked the Intake this morning, shows that gasket to be the culprit.
I can't find any info on that particular gasket?
A fix would be nice :-)

Ouch - I see what you need now (the gasket between the two halves of the intake manifold). Looks like BMW sells only the entire (US$3000) assembly.
Just another reason I love my humble N52. ;-)
If there's a vacuum inside that "box" during operation, you might get away with applying some sealant externally to the area of the leak (with the idea that it would be drawn into the gap in the existing gasket). Otherwise, I can only guess that you might be able to split the manifold and seal it with RTV (being very careful about reassembly and bolt torque, of course).

:-) Thats the one. Strange there not being any info etc. of anyone opening one.
Only fitted the engine over Easter and this is the last little niggle.
RTV might be a solution. I have just tightened the bolts, I'll wait for the engine light :-)
I have my old intake but it's a mess inside.
If needs must, I will buy a 2nd hand one.
Thanks for your help.

Yeah, who would have guessed that BMW was going to over-engineer something as simple as an intake manifold? ;-) Even my N52 intake looks like something that should be on a helicopter, with two DISA valves and more humps than a pod of whales.

:-)
I agree.
Next weekend's project; split my old one, it's bolted together, has to come apart. :-)
I can't knock the N62, it has done me very well, 197000 miles on the old engine, went downhill fast in the last year.
I now know why :-)
