N52 engine with ticking? Read here

Ya unfortunately it had nothing to do with the lifters but rather the oil distribution to those lifters. Unfortunately the new head plus labour is 7000k at bmw. I would be very worried about damage done on your engine if you had ticking for some time. You can seei n the link i provided someone who took apart his old valvle train after the swap and saw damage on the cams, lifters, rockers-I would just hope for the best as paying 7k for a head may not be worth it at this point

My Ride: 550i 2009 Mod. with tints all around. Got Splitter and Spoiler coming. May do an exhaust.
Diamond Is this Problem going to rear its ugly head this winter with the 2006 N52 motors? How can we as owners that say have 30k to 60k miles on our motors convince out dealers to swap out the HEADS before the any damage could be done to the Cams and alike? I am thinking I have the CPO, but that does not mean my motor will be good after 100,000 miles? How can we convince the DEALER to swap out a new better ported Motor? I would rather convince them now before the UGLY HEAD appears during the cold winter months. Are you sure this is all the N52 Motors?

WOW!!! I knew it had to be something. I brought the car in to the service dept and was told that they didn't hear anything and there was no problem. My "service engine soon" light just came on and I'm going to bring it in tomorrow.
Diamond, how should we refer this problem? Is there a certain recall number, reference, etc? I don't want to walk out with no problems being solved...

My Ride: 2007 530i
can anyone confirm the sound clip to see if its the same ticking, i made an appointment today with the SA and they are going to do the bleed test on it

Just look on youtube. Type in n52 lifter tick or 330i lifter tick or 530i lifter tick etc
The bleeding is not a test, it is their "fix" for this problem however it is only a temporary fix. The policy is they have to do the entire bleed procedure TWO seperate times and if it is still not fixed then they have to open a PUMA case and get you a new head

Ok I dropped my car off today and was ready to break it down to my SA....luckily he said he already knew what I was talking about....done it on a few cars, told me the process. He had to first do the bleeding test and then take it from there.
Glad I didn't have to try to explain myself too much. I'll keep you guys updated.
BTW, what are the chances that the test will fix the problem?

That is not ticking that is the normal sound of your engine. Lifter tick is a sound that is clearly a tick tick tick tick really fast-sounds just like an exhaust manifold leak if you have ever heard that. But that is not it
I have the tick and actually its sounds more like a "clunk" sometimes during cold starts.
