Your Power Steering is broken, your car needs a service at once!

Too much sand, I suppose.

l liked the too much sand part although im sure it is not the reason ..

i just changed my tires to non- run flat and i did the alligment and everything that u'd do when installing a new tire.. so i'd say its not the low tire pressure either!

but you are scaring me with the "serivce at once" part .. i think ill take it on sat.

I recently drove an M5 at the Performance Center.

The most noticable difference between the M and my 545 SMG was the steering. The M5 steering wheel felt so loose and light by comparison. My car feels like a wet sponge now.

You should checkout the smoothness of a 7 series or X5 steering wheel. heavenly! Ive been such a big supporter of Active Steering, but as of late, it just doesnt feel right. While the X5 steering wheel on the other hand is AMAZING! So light while turning, and perfect at high speeds just like the 7 series. And i believe thats how the m5 / m6 steering will be like as well. I think since i started driving the x5, the sensitivity of steering wheel has messed up my routine with active steering. Now active steering feels too tight but its speed sensitive ratios make up for it. On the other hand the 3 series (E46) steering wheel seems even worse.

i have a 2004 530i .. my steering wheel feels really heavy..
specially when i tried my friends (525, 530 2005 & 525 2004) they all are really light and easy to steer comparing to mine!!

any ideas why mine is that way ?? does it have to do (im just guessing here) with steering wheel oil or sth. ?
Maybe your active steering needs to be reset.

Have a 2005 530i (non-SP) and the steering has a heavy feel at lower speeds. Before buying, I drove a number of 530i with and without the Sport Package. The cars with SP did have a lighter steering feel, which I attributed to the Active Steering (std. on SP at the time).

I'm guessing that your friends have the SP-equipped 5-series.

If the heavy steering feel bothers, why not take it in to the dealer and have them check it out? Myself, I prefer the heavier, Euro feel.

get the hydraulic pump of the steering checked. Either low fluid pressure there due to leakage or the pump is gone.
