My ECU was stolen from my 545i Need HELP BAD!!

I wonder what someone would do with an extra ECU... keep an eye out for someone who is planning to sell used ECU on the net... especially in your area... good luck!! so sorry to hear that man!!
Remember, don't hurt your health over this... these are material stuff, so can be replaced... having your mind and heart paining over this is not good... so just stay calm and if it has to be replaced, then no choice... just a heads up!!

I agree with most on here that this sounds very strange.
Sounds more like revenge or a random A-hole who just did it to be an A-hole, though a smarter A-hole to even know where the ECU is. Its like the guy who keys a car in a parking lot for no other reason then to be an A-hole.
Did you report it to the police? If they care at all they should at least take finger prints. Chances are a random jerk like that didn't have gloves on and I'm sure has a criminal record. Insurance will want a police report filed reguardless.

Except random a-holes don't know where the ECU is and random a-holes that take the time to break into your garage steal things of VALUE.....no....doesn't add up to me.

Might even just hide it somewhere in the garage and not steal it.

Sorry for your loss there bro but theres a lot here that doesn't make sense. Someone literally zeroes in on just the ECU and doesn't mess with anything else in the car??? There's a lot that can easily be removed [prob easier than the ECU] from the engine compartment that could fetch a decent sum. The other intriguing part is the know how to remove the ECU ~ I don't even know where it is or how to find it. If they truly are vehicle specific, what use could this be to someone else????
My thoughts are similar to some of the others earlier -- I think you damaged your ECU and are looking to cover up your losses somehow. Sure, insurance companies don't look at Forums but it can't hurt to say you reported it to the cops and to the forum and send em print outs...
Insurance fraud is a very dangerous area bud so make sure your story adds up.. Sounds a little too hard to believe for me. Again, I am sorry for your ECU loss either way as it is obvious that doesn't change no matter what the background..
Oh..and the Air Filter takes less than ten minutes to change, even on a bad day..... No need to leave your car opened like that overnight for the future. Just FYI..

Notice how the OP hasn't chimed in here? If I was being falsely accused of insurance fraud, I'd protest and defend my story. Maybe it is bogus after all?
