So drive to work this morning almost there I start smelling some burning like oil. I've smelt it before I know the valve cover gaskets are slowly leaking and I think nothing of it. Pull into the parking lot to see white smoke coming from the grills. Parked and oil is pouring out the bottom puddle about 2 feet long and hitting both tires seemed like the smoke was coming up from in between the drivers side of the motor and the intake. Over at the Indy now waiting to hear back. Anyone ever have this happen? Oil cooler line that burst. cracked oil filter housing? So strange, car sat all weekend and when I got home today noticed a puddle here too.

I have never heard of that happening unless you have had a recent oil change. Maybe the oil stand gasket? Make sure you keep us posted on the outcome!!

Probably the oil cooler gaskets - easy fix, if so. It may also be the oil pan gasket - or whatever it's called - this is more complicated. Either way though, it is definitely fixable - hang in there, bud

Looks like it going to be the gasket behind the alternator bracket. Fingers crossed!

So here we go! Got the car torn apart today and after many many f bombs and hearing If I could find the guy who designed this car and punch him in the face... Found the problem! Gasket behind the alternator bracket for that hole in the engine that goes nowhere. Awesome took a good 5 hours to do the job, had the remove the motor mounts, jack the engine up, managed to keep the radiator in and just remove the fan, and not remove the subframe! Hell of a job feel sorry for my mechanic. The gasket was cracked in 2 spots and completely flattened out and brittle. Attached a couple pictures of it. Got the car all put together went to put the belt on, tensioner broke local dealer didnt have one had to drive to rochester to get one! Yikes merry xmas to me!

This is sucked. F... up design, why is not just closed this permanent.
Almost same BS was on E46, just for oil filter housing.
