According to this BMW ordering guide from the Information section of the forum, the Premium Package (ZPP) was standard on the 545, with the exception of the Lumbar Support. ZPP consisted of:

Universal Garage Door Opener
Auto dimming mirrors (interior and exterior)
Poplar Grain Wood Trim
Lumbar Support
Ambient Light Package

As pointed out, the Lumbar support was a separate $400 option in 2004 - but I believe standard in 2005.

However, those sport seats are just terrible when compared to the Comfort Seats. Just getting in and out of the car can be painful. Alas, once you are in, they are OK -but as I said, if you have ever tried the comfort seats....

 

Yeah I was just a little pissed that my car may not have had the sports package, that and a few Dewars and soda. The car is obviously not a pos. But I really do think this car has the sports package. I'm waiting for an email from BMW NA to verify it does. I mean damn, the car has active steering, shadowline trim, six speed, and the fronts of the seats move forward. I thought that was a sports package item.

 

I would guess it has the sport package but not the premium package. I don't know the specific content of the '04 packages.

 

Look under the outside rear view mirrors. If you have the "puddle" lights that come on when the car is unlocked, that is part of the Ambient Lighting or a part of the Premium package. The Premium Package was standard on the 2004 545. This doesn't seem that hard to me, your car has the Sports Package and the being a 545, the Premium Package. Not having Lumbar Support is normal if it was not ordered by the original owner. Your wheels were clearly changed out at some point.

I re-read my reply and to be clear, if you ordered the sports package on the 530 in 2004, or if you ordered a 2005 545 with sport, you also got it (AS was part of the sport package option on the 525,530, and 545 in 2004 and 2005).

If you autocross a lot, it may not be your cup of tea - but if you drive in the city, then it is one of the best options you can get IMHO. While the M5 has variable ratio steering, it is not speed sensitive (it depends on the amount of turn in the wheel) -it is a nice compromise between standard steering and Active Steering - but I still prefer the Active Steering for day to day driving.

 

There's a DIY lumbar somewhere aound here. Just add some foam where you need it behind the seat cover. Cheap mod. Once I set the lumbar, I hardly ever change it.
